Most resumes are one page long and typewritten. All resumes
contain brief phrases that summarize information. Use these
guidelines:
- State your name, address, and telephone number, including the area code. Your e-mail address may also be added.
- State your job objective. What kind of position or general area of work are you seeking?
- Summarize your education. List the name and address of the school and any special subjects helpful for a particular job. List the most recent first.
- Summarize your job experience. State the beginning and ending dates of your employment, the name and address of your employer, the position held, and duties. List most recent jobs first. If you have any related volunteer experience, include here.
- Mention any meaningful personal achievements. Include special skills, such as computer language, foreign language, office skills, or community work. Also include awards, societies, or clubs, any offices held, hobbies, and related special interests.
- Mention at least two references. It is also standard practice to say that you will supply references on request.
Keep you resume up-to-date and accurate.
Keep in mind: A resume summarizes basic information about
your life in relation to work. Wire a resumes that is well organized,
easy-to-read, and up-to-date. Include all information that shows you and your
special skills.
Sample format

Your cover letter should follow these guidelines:
- State the title of the job you are seeking.
- Be specific about the kind of job you are looking for. Indicate whether you are looking for employment full time, part time, or only temporarily.
- Include a brief statement about yourself.
- Include a brief statement about your qualifications. Be sure to mention any related work experience.
- Be specific about your availability for work. Always include a starting date.
- Include a request for an interview.
Make sure that your letter follows the correct form for a
business letter. It should be informative, neat, and polite.
