A publication of Our Lady Queen of Peace School, Belleville, Illinois.
(Published second and fourth Thursday of the month during the school year.)

January 26, 2012

Dear Parents,

The last week of January is always one of the busiest of the entire school year as we celebrate what makes our Catholic School special. As usual, we will start with our Pre K and Kindergarten Open House on Sunday, January 29th. This is our opportunity to showcase the special educational opportunity that Queen of Peace offers for children.

This year's theme is: "Catholic Schools: Faith, Academics, Service." We will explore the concept of service by several projects including an animal tattoo sale for the Tree House Wildlife Center and making valentines for Rosewood Care Center.

To focus on the component of faith the students will make prayer chains, listen to guest speakers about vocations and minister at the weekend masses. Academics come to the forefront with our week long trivia contest and the 8th graders opportunity to teach a class on Friday.

We will also enhance our sense of community at Queen of Peace with an all school movie / bowling trip, free dress day and pizza lunch. We must also extend a heartfelt "Thank You" to the Sodality/Mothers' Club for their generous monetary gift to fully fund our movie / bowling trip.

Sincerely,
Sharon Needham
Principal
